Jeanne Hendricks is a Democratic candidate for Congress running to defeat GOP Rep. Tom Emmer in Minnesota’s 6th District. Jeanne is a nurse anesthetist, mom of two adult children, and community activist who makes decisions every day based on facts and science. She has spent the last 30 years raising a family and providing health care as a nurse anesthetist to Minnesotans
Jeanne is a Midwesterner born in Canton South Dakota on August 3rd, 1957. Her mother, Joyce Messerli, was a secretary in a law office and her father, Lloyd Messerli, was a high school science teacher and later became an investment broker. Jeanne is the middle child of five children, growing up with 3 brothers and 1 sister.
Her parents instilled in Jeanne a strong work ethic, the importance of participation in church and school activities, service to the community, and being kind and truthful to family and friends.
She attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls and in 1979 received a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Nursing Major. In 1993, Jeanne graduated from Winona State University earning a Master of Science Degree in Nurse Anesthesia. At Winona State University, Jeanne was a student class representative on the graduate school’s governing board.
Jeanne is currently a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and has worked in anesthesia for the last 30 years, delivering anesthesia in the operating room for both adults and children. During her career, Jeanne built coalitions and acted as the spokesperson to represent her co-workers when discussing the areas of benefits, salary, credentialing requirements, and practice issues with administration.
In her spare time, Jeanne enjoys pickleball, running, biking, gardening, reading, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
